Pacific Play House
Established in 2018, Pacific Play House is the supporting wing of Pacific Speech Therapy and Learning Centre. Pacific Play House serves as a platform for children to learn and rehearse social skills in a less stressful environment. Improving social skills helps promote better self-esteem, helping the child make friends and live a happier life.
It’s a significant milestone for Pacific moving towards providing holistic therapy and care for children with special needs. From clinician-centered 1-to-1 therapy sessions, we now scaffold children by actively involving the family as well as the school in their learning journey. We look at development holistically—children benefit not only from clinical therapy, but also from play and social interactions. As the supporting wing, Pacific Play House ensures our children are able to apply and generalize all skills learned during one-to-one therapy sessions into their real-life daily routines.
Programs Available
1. Social Play Group
Provides a fun setting for children to learn play skills, language for two-way communication, and sensory-motor skills.
Toddler Social Playgroup (TSP) — Ages 2 to 5
Specially designed for children who have limited play skills (e.g., spinning the wheels of a toy car rather than pretend-driving it).
We believe each child is unique. For some, play skills do not develop naturally. TSP serves as a platform to learn and rehearse play skills in a well-planned environment. With adult scaffolding and supervision, we expand the essential play foundations needed for social interaction at older stages.
Elementary Social Playgroup (ESP) — Ages 5 and above
Specially designed for children who struggle during social play with peers.
Some children develop strong imaginative play on their own (pretending to feed a doll or flying an airplane), yet struggle to blend in and play with peers at school. ESP aims to help generalize play skills during real peer interactions—an essential step for building self-esteem.
2. Social Skills Group (SSG)
Helps children with functional speech-language skills develop self-esteem, social skills, and friendships using a systematic, evidence-based approach.
-
SSG Level 1: Talkabout for Children — Developing Self Awareness and Self Esteem
A systematic and hierarchy-based module supporting children with social, emotional, or behavioral difficulties. Once basic language and play skills are present, Level 1 promotes awareness of self, others, and the environment to build foundational confidence for social communication.
-
TSSG Level 2: Talkabout for Children — Developing Social Skills
Works on improving body language, conversational rhythm, and vocal delivery—essential tools for making friends in everyday settings.
-
TSSG Level 3: Talkabout for Children — Developing Friendship Skills
Aims to help children practice and generalize social skills to form lasting friendships. Developing peer relationships is an essential component for children to enjoy school and daily life.
3. Kids Fun Baking
Provides a practical, hands-on learning experience for children aged 3 and above to promote:
- Sensory Processing: Tactile sensation (e.g., working with dough).
- Motor Development: Kneading dough, using cookie cutters, and fine-motor coordination.
- Attention Span: Following sequential instructions to task completion.
- Early Literacy Skills: Reading and interpreting recipe steps.
- Creativity & Pride: Decorating items with a clear sense of accomplishment.
4. School Holiday Program
Intensive Social Skills programs and experiential holiday activities organized during local and international school breaks.
